TESE (Testicular Sperm Extraction) is a technique used to get sperms directly from the testicle through a biopsy and removing a small amount of tissue that can then be used for IVF-ICSI. This technique is used when there are no sperms found in the semen analysis report (azoosperia).
When is TESE used in men?
TESE is a minor procedure and can be done within 15 minutes. It is mostly done with general anesthesia in the operating room. It is an outpatient procedure and you can go home on the same day. In the procedure your Genova male infertility specialist will remove tissue from your testicle. The embryologist will then recover sperm from the tissue and use it for IVF-ICSI procedure.
Success rate of TESE depends on severity of the issue and can be anywhere between 20-100% in retrieving sperms.
