Microsurgical Testicular Sperm Extraction (Micro TESE) is a highly advance procedure that draws sperms directly from the tissue in testes under a microscope. This procedure is used when a male cannot produce or release healthy sperm. Through this procedure sperm are extracted directly from testes and used in IVF-ICSI procedure to fertilize the eggs retrieved from the female (spouse).
Micro TESE is a truly revolutionary procedure as it allows men to father a child even if they are not able to release healthy sperm naturally. Genova IVF & Fertility center has the most advanced operation theatre facilities equipped with state-of-the-art microscope and embryology lab to deliver the best results.
Genova’s male infertility specialist will perform this procedure under a microscope in our operation theatre. The patient will be given general anesthesia. The infertility specialist will use the operating microscope to search for tissue containing sperms. The tissues will then be given to our embryology lab to determine the presence of healthy sperms. This process increases the chance of extracting healthy sperm as the tissue is examined and processed during the procedure.
On average it takes about 90 minutes to perform this procedure. The patient is given general anesthesia or spinal epidural. The patient does not need to stay overnight and can go home after recovery.
When is Micro-TESE used?
Monday - Friday (9am to 5pm)
Saturday (9am to 3 pm)
Sunday (9am to 2 pm)
